Once you are sober for a while the people, places, and things change anyway.

What Stu said is EXACTLY what I experienced over the past twelve months. I shifted my focus to things I have always been interested in, but never able to develop fully because of the time I devoted to alcohol. Almost by default, new people showed up in my life.

As was said earlier, if your anything like me you'll find that a lot of your friends don't actually drink like you and are more than willing to do other things. I've lost contact with a few "drinking buddies" but for the most part my true friends are more than happy to do something that doesn't involve alcohol. I came to find out that I was usually the one who wanted alcohol to be a part of everything that went on.

Most friends are really punks. When you stop drinking they treat you like ****. Find new friends.
