I just had to call out the distinction some posters seem to be making between participating in AA and "living life."

Most people I know in AA who have long-term sobriety enjoy the community of AA, the calming effect of going to meetings, and the satisfaction gained from service as an important part of their life. Their involvement in AA enhances the entirety of their life experience and brings new perspective and serenity to their activities outside of AA -- it doesn't take time away from "living life" as if it were an either/or choice.
