So tired of everything at the moment

I am starting to get tired of everything I am even tired of being sober believe it or not, I do not feel like drinking I do feel like chucking a tandrum and curl up in bed and not come out for a few days and hide. I am overtired looking after my little ones, am not sleeping right due to my upcoming DUI court case on the 21st of feb, working 40 hour week through out it, being in a fulltime relationship.... cleaning the house,,,I am just over it and think that if I would have the money I would just buy a ticket to another place to have time out.......... or go somewhere where noone can reach me and I can just be me..........maybe that is the moment when I used to relapse and everyone would turn away from me but for a few days I could pretend.........

I keep reading posts like this and all I can say is how much worse this would feel if we were drinking. So many of us are feeling like dreck these days. Must be that time of year. The more I read about others going through the same, the not so alone I somehow feel and that is comforting. Also the knowledge that this too will pass.

I feel ya. I am in the same boat. We'll get through.

Take care,

Sid - why can't you be you where you're at now?

PS - I'm an AA'er and this is when having a solid recovery program comes in handy.

Hi Sydney

I think it's natural to feel that way - you're under a lot of stress right now.
Have you got anyone to talk to about this in real life?

Yes I do have my psychiatrist and a very close friend in recovery, but I guess some things I think just do not have a solution such as my charges for the DUI, I just have to accept it and accept whatever outcome comes out of it, so there is no point going on and on about it to the rest of the world given that I screwed it up myself.

Sid - there is plenty of reason to talk about it and work on your problem.

Don't sell yourself short. Self pity will get you nothing.

Lot of good recovery out there. I hope you latch on and do the work to get the results.

Four months is AWESOME!

I'm not too far ahead, just over a year, and I have days where I, like you, want to curl up and not even leave my bed.

I've also had two DUI's, so I know what that is like too.

It's important to not stay in that place too long and you must feel the same way.

I know something that always helps me when I feel down or less than.

Helping someone else. It works. Every. Single. Time.

Hi Sidney, we all have those days (even people who are not alcoholics!)
Sometimes life is just too busy and l know at times a STOP button would come in very handy
You can ride this out but don't be shy about telling close friends, or your psych how you are feeling, you don't have to feel overwelmed on your own. (no man is an island)
I find taking one day at a time helps me to remember better times are just around the corner. Mindfullness or meditation are other options you could try.

Though no-one can go back and make a new start,
anyone can start from now and make a new ending.
Carl Bard.

Ditto I also had my 2nd DUI in September 2010, where I was meant to go to court in November but my solicitor adjourned it to Feb 2011, since he wanted more prove i.e CTV footage, since the police did not see me driving but the liquor store attendant called the police and in the midst of being postnatal and having given just birth a week earlier and not thinking at all, I still snuck in a few drinks being there waiting for them to call a towtruck given that my tyre had blown and I could not go anywhere....so he wants to give me the best outcome...... what did you get for your second DUI? and was it high range or low range?

I woke up from a blackout with tires screeching and BAM! Cars smashing. I caused an accident and blew a .269.

That was my 2nd DUI (the 1st one I blacked out as well, but only hit trees).

We're obvsiouly in different countries, but I got...
  • 4 days in jail (actually 120, but 116 are suspended as long I don't get in anymore trouble).
  • 4 years of probation (monthly drug and alcohol testing).
  • 6 months of random alcohol testing (I have to blow into a machine in my house).
  • 1 year license suspension (this is actually over now and I'll be driving again soon)
  • 240 hours of community service (almost 1/2 way done)
  • ...and more, but that's the major points

Plus, all in all, this probably cost me about 24 thousand dollars.

...but it got me sober and no one was hurt. I'm not going to say it was worth it, but maybe it was.
