Alcohol and Cold Wheather Can Be Deadly
I just like to warn everyone of the dangers of drinking and being outdoors in the brutal cold. Alcohol messes with your blood circulation. After my most recent bender I received frostbite on my fingers that are still tingling from walking in 10degree weather. I was drunk and had lost my gloves and hat. Of course I didn't feel the cold as I was very drunk. I'm hoping I get feeling back in my fingers eventually. They didn't turn black or blue so I guess thats good. Just another consequence of alcoholism.

Makes me laugh when i see an old film with the old st bernard dog with the small brandy barrel hanging round its neck to the guy trapped in the snow...i remember that myth being busted when i was very young and my biology teacher saying that 9 times out of 10 it would kill the person not suddenly revive them back to full consciousness lol

George McGovern's daughter Terry died of exposure while intoxicated just around the corner from her house. I read his book about his daughter. Quick read, but a very good book for the most part FYI.
Yes, alcohol dialates the little blood vessels so your outside feels warm. The warm radiates to the air, and your core gets colder. Fishing buddies here like to drink as elsewhere, but they don't (in general) bring alcohol when ice fishing. Its actually frowned upon!
