Love and hugs,
Laurie, thanks for starting this thread----I love you big bunches!!
Thank you all so very much for being here for me, and I really do appreciate the congrats. One thing really sticks in my mind tho..... I do the footwork, God is with me each step of my life...... and puts people like each of you in my life to encourage me to keep on keeping on staying sober one day at a time. God willing, I'll be around to see you reach 39 years as well. Thanks again, and I love you all and there's nothing you can do about it!!!

I am going to 'tattle' on myself here. I have known Lora and Carol D for a long time now, we all met on another recovery site about 12 years ago.
I really got to know Lora, by phone calls back and forth, and she came to live with me in late '06 for two years.
However, prior to her coming here to NM, in '01, '02, '03, and early '04 I was fighting Social Security to get my legitimate disability. In '03 I was so FRUSTRATED and ANGRY, my old ways were coming back BIG TIME, and I had figured out a way to go and bomb the regional office in Albuquerque. I was dead serious about this, don't get me wrong, my old ways had come back full force and my 'tools' were out the window.
Lora, was the one that 'talked' me down through LONG phone conversations, and call backs every hour or so to make sure I had not left for Albuquerque. Whew that was a rough time, and I can honestly say without her support, her tenacity to keep at me, talking to me, with me, and at me, about our 'tools', I WOULD have carried out my plans and now be in prison.
She has 9 years on me and is two years younger than me, so obviously got smarter than I did at a much younger age, roflmao Just know that I value her very much in my life and we still talk on the phone daily.
She is a person who definitely 'walks the way she talks' and she is a very plain spoken gal. I have learned some 'tact' from her and have 'toned' down a bit, again thanks to her.
I told the above for two reasons. One that you might a wee bit of insight into just how great a person she is. Two to show that no matter how much 'time sober' one has, you/I can lose sight of one's sobriety goal and things can go haywire. I was 22 years sober at the time.
I am very grateful that she is in my life!!!!!!!
