drunk last night

I drank alot on my own yesterday/lastnight... it was 6 x 500ml Budweiser cans and then a bottle of Mateus Rose wine.

I'm 25 still live at home with parents and when I drink (2-3 times a week) it causes alot of upset and aggro at home.

I must quit drinking permanently today.

6 beers and a bottle of wine and you were drinking by yourself.

Your drinking is causing you problems.

You regret your drinking.

Do you think you're an alcoholic?

I would say I am an alcoholic, I can rarely manage more than 4 days in a row without some beer.

Welcome. So you want to quit drinking, what is your plan? Just saying you are not going to drink usually is not enough, particulary long term. Thinking about AA?

AA is in the phone book. I suggest you get to a meeting today.

Here's an online version of AA's "Big Book".

If you identify with what you read, and what you hear at the meeting, AA is a great solution.

Seems making this decision to quit will require you to go longer than 4 days.

How will you do that?

Once you question your drinking.....

Once you start questioning your drinking then you definitely have a problem.

Quitting drinking on your own is VERY hard.

AA is an option but just remember it is just one option. it is a good option because AA meetings are everywhere and, depending on where you live, they are relatively easy to find.

If f AA is not for you then there are alternatives, but I have got ahead of myself....

If i were you my first step would be to go to an AA meeting and see if you can relate to what the others are saying at the meeting, then decide what you want to do. As I said before stopping drinking on your own is VERY hard. There is help available if you want it.

All the best.

As far as AA is concerned I don't think it sounds like my kind of thing, I know that sounds stupid to say but my plan is just to keep checking in this forum if I need to discuss anything and try to do it by myself.

thanks for the responses.

Excellent plan. No one should attend AA before they're properly seasoned by attempting any other easier ways that occur to them, imo.

Hang tough.

Nothing wrong with that and I'm an AA'er.

I know what it's like to be where you're at b/c I've been there.

It's scary as hell and very confusing, but there are ways out.

Do you think you're an alcoholic? That's probably the best place to start.

Great job posting here and keep up the good work. Just know that we can and do recover. You can be living proof.

I'm not going to right a whole lot cause I'm guessing from reading all your posts you really don't want to quit for good? In my case and many others there was a desperation that was there, and well all I saw was thanks but I am gonna try to quit on my own see ya. Thats's okay I was like that for years before I quit its just sad cause if it is causing so much trouble now just wait EEK We will be here though if and when you need us. Keep the Faith

Welcome to SR.....

Many of us are winning over alcohol....and yes some use AA
and some do not. You can find a lot of information
and support here with us....

Please keep posting ...we do understand how difficult it is to quit.
Is this your first attempt at stopping?
