Sober Hangover?

I have been sober for 69 days, but woke up this a.m. actually feeling hung over...dry mouth, headache, tired, grumpy. It took about 10 minutes or so to get out of that sort of funk. Feel fine now, but could not figure out why I had all the hangover symptoms this a.m.

This ever happen to anybody else?

Kind of weird. Oh well, at least it wasn't a real hangover. Maybe I over did it in my dreams and just can't remember!? LOL.

i think it might be dry air in your house and a bit of dehydration? or plain old winter doldrums?

I've had that happen once or twice Zube.
I've figured out it may be dehydration, at least in my case - I sleep with a fan usually.

That's how I woke up last month after having way too much sushi, of course with soya sauce.... Salt was the problem, as it really dehydrated me.

I have had a few wicked headaches since becoming sober that remind me exactly like hangover headaches. Wondering if I'm drinking too much coffee and tea and I'm getting a caffine headache.

could it be PAWS? I had latly a feeling of dizzyness and headaches, almost like migraines. The doc could not find anything wrong with it. If it is PAWS, it will pass. See Post

Maybe you have a little headcold coming on. I wouldn't worry about it.

zube,that sounds familiar
I had all sorts of stuff, like off and on again headaches for 1 year.
I don`t know excally why we felt the way we did at first,we just had to survive the feelings and stay sober. In time, mine did get a lot better..and today,I usually feel ok.
After all those years drinking/drugging,our bodies took a severe beating, and it takes time for them to slowly straighten out.Don`t give up!

I had something similar over Christmas and through early January. Turned out to be a sinus infection! I didn't go to the doctor since I figured it was just PAWS or something to do with quitting alcohol. Wrong.

If it is only one day I wouldn't worry, but keep in mind sober people get winter colds as well

Zube, I have seen a lot of people mention that. It's like a faux hangover. Unless there's more to it, I think it is just the body confusing the sensation of waking up not feeling chipper with the way we would wake up intoxicated and feel beaten up. I think I felt a little of that a week or two ago when I allowed myself to sleep in for 10 or 12 hours (after being on less than 5 hours of sleep for some number of dreadful days). And I haven't had any alcohol for over a year. It's seems like ages ago, but I think I felt it when waking up in the hot summer too.

Another thing that people report here a lot is dreams about drinking. At first I thought people must be allowing their guilt over the past weigh down on them, but then I had a few of them too. If that happens to you, don't let it disturb you, just move on with the day.

Good to know it passed quickly.. for you...

For about a month...I've been dealing with upper respitory stuff
and yes I had my annual flu shot.
It has nothing to do with drinking or my recovery from alcoholism.

My current best friends are Puffs...Vicks...and my electric blanket...

I know what you mean. I have been working out daily sweating like a hog, and we run a space heater in our room. The combination of dry air, and being dehydrated has me waking up with that "sandpaper" tongue I would get after polishing off an 18 pack the night before.

If you drink a lot of coffee/sodas you might be getting caffeine hangovers.

Went to an AA gathering last Sat night and had a great time. I smoked a good amount of cigarettes, drank coffee and stayed up later then normal.

I woke up feeling like I was hungover for a few hours. Im sure its from the poison of tobacco and caffeine.

Very true. And I think I've felt some stuff like this before, but in my experience, they're nowhere near as bad as real hangovers.

I woke up feeling that way this weekend; I had the headache all day. At some point it occurred to me that maybe that's nothing new, maybe sometimes I just have an ordinary headache for no particular reason. The only difference is that when I was drinking, I always assumed it was a hangover...
