14 months....

well, today is 14 months. i had a rough week last week with getting the flu, but i'm back to normal now and the rest of the house has it.

i'm glad i can be here to get them back to health.

life is pretty darn good for me. i don't have any more urges, no compulsions and most days i don't even think about it.

it's a far cry from a gallon of vat69 a night and 6mg of klonopin.

i can't believe i survived the withdrawal.

i can't believe i not only survived the withdrawal, but i put my marriage back together.

i can't believe i'm back working towards getting my career back.

i'm so fortunate to have this place as my rock.

thanks SR. i really appreciate all the words of encouragement and the friendship you all have shown me. it really makes a big difference in my life.

thanks again guys.

much love,
bulldog

You're a miracle and a testament to the fact that it can be done. Next week I will be hitting 5 months and I was just thinking about how things are so different now then last year at this time.

Last night I went to the party, the same one I did last year, but I actually remember what the hell happened because I didn't black out and pass out for most of the party. I'm also running the marathon again this year and my training has gone so much better than it did last year.

It's not easy all the time, but it is so worth it, and I'm glad that I haven't thrown in the towel.

Congrats bro, this is only the beginning of what could be an awesome and wonderful thing.

I used Klonipin to come off of alcohol. 14 months feels great. It is still getting better for me at 21 months. One day at a time.

Kind of off topic, but just curious do you do jiujitsu or just striking classes?

i used to. then when i turned 30, i broke my back. so it's been about 7 years since i've competed. i also used to do muai thai, tang so doo, and grav maga as well.

I still do muai thai and some TSD to stay in shape, but no more krav maga or BJJ because of the grappling. i miss it alot. i used to assist in teaching police cadets self defense in the county where i grew up.

Sorry to hear that about your back. I can see how that would make rolling in BJJ no longer and option. Very cool though that you have done so many styles of fighting and are a fellow martial artist!
