Hunger
CONGRATS!!!!! I ate a shiit-ton when I first quit drinking. I have 49 days and my metabolism has just started to get back to normal. I had been drinking a lot for the past 7 years and it wrecked my metabolism. When I first sobered up I would get fast food in the morning. A huge lunch, candy in the afternoon, big dinner, big bowl of ice cream after dinner, and I craved regular coke. Notice the sugar theme...
I gained about 6 pounds in the weeks after I quit drinking and have since lost them. Lately my diet has been much more in line with how a "normal person" should eat. I wouldn't worry too much about a big appetite right now. You're doing a good job not drinking. Hang in there and things will work themselves out on there own time...

I had a huge appetite for the first 2 or 3 weeks. It's good to eat though, as it helps with the cravings. I treated myself to whatever I felt like for dinner (it gave me something to look forward to in the evening when I would normally be drinking).
I may have gained a couple pounds, but things leveled out and I've lost about 10 pounds since then.
go for it..... lol

I am extremely active, and work out daily, but boy, I sure did gain about 6 pounds in the first few weeks! I'm on day 83, and I've since lost it all.
I was STARVING for crap food, until I realized that if it was sugar I was craving, then the natural sugar in fruit would be good. I had cut fruit all day every day, and it helped me rehydrate, and control cravings!

With my doctors permission.....I frollowed an eating plan
for hypoglycemia I found in the book "Under The Influence"
for the first 6 months after I quit drinking.
I consider it helped me get back in balance quicker
and eased the alcoholic cravings....
Please do check with your doctor before embarking on anything new.
All my best as you continue to move forward..

Totally normal stuff.
I went through a phase of craving milkshakes, gained 10lbs. at least, then switched to coffee, go figure, lol. All in all, it's much better than booze, so hang in there, and don't forget the donuts, lol.

Ben and Jerrys freak here...I am still losing weight tho. Never wanted to eat while drinking..killed the buzz..so I would either not eat..or eat at some ungodly hour. After downing a gazillion liquor calories. Anyway..I am sure it will taper off. That was another awakening for me. How good food is. SO don't worry about it..just stay away from the alcoholic beverages!!
