day 3 questions
I have been drinking every day for 6 years now. It used to be a shot or 2 at night to relax then of course that became 3 then 5. I am very motivated now because of the costs involved and I will be changing jobs soon. (drinking not the reason, company moving overseas)
I rarely ever had a headache, mostly just fogy for the first 4 hours or so of the day. I read a lot of articles about DTs and other problems, but so far I feel ok. Which seems strange because I thought I was a serious drinker.
The nights are really long which is a pain, I miss just going on auto each evening.
Does going to sleep become easier? I take hours to get to sleep and then wake up 20 times a night.

Welcome, snowcrash. Don't let you lack of DTs make you think you don't have a drinking problem. Count your blessings. But I think you are feeling some withdrawal symptoms. Being restless, not sleeping, anxiety...all related to your quiting.
Others will probably tell you that the sleeping will become easier. I didn't have a problem those first few days into recovery. I stayed up and drank; for years. So when I quit I slept a lot! Guess the late night binges exhausted me. I have bouts of sleeplessness now, but nothing too bad.
Good luck. Post us your progress.

There's a lot of misconception about DTs, but not everyone gets them snowcrash, which is good cos they can be deadly.
Most of us have trouble with sleep for a little while - most of us get through it.
Do see your Dr if you worried about it, or anything else, tho
Hope to see you around some more

The first couple of days, sleep for me was a bit erratic. I kept a bunch of really dry (no pun intended) reading material near my bed and that helped.
After that I've been sleeping pretty soundly, so I hope it gets better for you.

I never drank very heavily or on a nightly basis, I was more of a binger. My longest period of abstinence was about 18 days and I can't remember sleeping so good as I did during those 18 days. I normally take FOREVER to fall asleep and wake up every hour. So, for me great sleep is a huge bonus to not drinking.
Hope things improve for you!

Same here 20-30 drinks a day and was expecting horrible things from detox, the worst thing I had (on day 11 right now) is all I can do is sleep, I am tired all the time. I guess we are a couple of the lucky ones who don't have to go through a bad withdrawal.
