Over the first month

Well it's been over a month and a half since I quit drinking. With an almost 30 year heavy drinking history I'm surprised I've even gotten this far. It hasn't been too bad...I still want to drink every day, I don't know why. But I don't.
Just writing because this far into it and today I felt anxiety and nervous tension that I haven't felt since when I first quit. Why is it popping up as if I had just drank? Even my boyfriend jokingly asked me if I drank last night cause that's how it feels. It's yucky today, feeling so physically weak. Anyways, no not gonna drink- just disappointed this far into sobriety I'm having a crappy feeling day!

With your drinking history, don't be surprised if there are more crappy days. It takes a while for the body and mind to adjust to not drinking and to repair all the damage. Look up PAWS, Post acute withdrawal syndrome. That's what you can expect later on. For me, just knowing about it, understanding what I was going through, helped me get through it.

Congrats on a month...that's awesome!

Maybe has nothing to do with your drinking history? Stress, the flu, etc...could be something else completely.

Congrats on your sober time!

Yeah, you can expect mood swings many weeks after sobering up. Different length for everybody. But it DOES get better if you stay away from alcohol. After a year or something, you'll be looking back and wondering why you felt this way.

For a good number of people certain periods of time seem to trigger cravings or the blues. I've heard 30, 60, and 90 days are all frequently tricky.

I was kind of bummed when I realized that sobriety didn't get rid of the crap it just meant I could deal with it a little better
