Great Source of Information on Addiction

Even though I've been sober for several decades, I learned a great deal about alcoholism and treatment options on a wonderful HBO special called "Addiction". There are other ways to get sober outside AA, there are doctors who specialize in addiction and there is medicine for it.

The website: HBO: Addiction

It looks like a good read...funny you shoud mention AA...i've only read the 2 main sections that stood out to me:

"Addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease." (lol this might not go down so well with some readers...its a choice, for some, apparently?!)

"Twelve-step programs can be an essential source of ongoing assistance for people working to maintain long-term recovery."

Cool...and as you say there are other routes to aid recovery highlighted too, look forward to reading more later from the experts in the field of addiction that have been involved in making this:-)

Thanks for sharing this info....

SR has many members who are happily successfully long term sober
that use a variety of methods...some structured programs
some not..some a mixture.

There is no wrong way to find a healthy sober future.
Isn't it great that more options are discussed now than when we found recovery?
IIn '89....my DOS....many structured programs had not been founded.

Forward we go....side by side
