hello

Hi everyone, my names Dave, I'm an alcoholic. I've been dry since sunday, and am actually going through alcohol withdrawl. I've been up 3 days, the hallucinations of sounds being there. I've had pink floyds "interstellar overdrive" seemingly playing in the background for 3 days. I got some valium to take from the doc to help with the withdrawl symptoms for today and tomorrow. I'm in it for the long hall, i never want to be this afraid of dying in my life ever again.

anyways i'll be taking the valium and HOPEFULLY get some much needed rest. and beat this thing.
thanks for your time

Welcome Dave

Not making light but I remember hearing Astronomy Domine in my head for days...
I never saw a Dr though - that was a BAD and very foolish error on my part.

I'm glad you've seen yours.

If you get concerned or worried tho - please go back to your Dr.

Welcome to SR

Welcome, Dave. I remember my one major withdrawal and the sleepless endless loop song in my head, too (Jade Warrior Winter's Tale).

Glad you saw a doctor and have meds to help. Hopefully you'll sleep well tonight. Let us know how you are doing.

Hope you start feeling better soon and congratulations on making the choice to get sober. It really is a life and death deal, and we need all the support we can get.

Glad you're here!

Hi Dave, welcome to SR. I was in the hospital the first week I was sober due to a RX drug overdose and thought I heard music coming through the hospital walls, I kept buzzing the nurses to turn off the dang music..., I didn't even know I was in withdrawal cause I hadn't yet accepted that I even had a problem. It gets better and hopefully you'll be able to look back at this and laugh about it as I do.

The reason for becoming in the state i'm in, was because my girlfriend broke up with me about a month ago, and i was just drinking so much just to forget about her.... being sober now i can't stop thinking about her still.. arrrgh

I started drinking in earnest for similar reasons...

sober we tend to deal with things, and we get through them - drink on them and we're avoiding that process..we just keep going round and round...I lost 18 months that way.

You're right to stop drinking
