Just curious
Morally "wrong".......ugh, I'll go with morally in poor taste.
That said though, were it not for things like this the medical community would know less about alcoholism and films like Rain in My Heart might not have been made.
If someone wants to put an offer out there and ppl willingly take it.... I don't worry too much about it.

They've got a new 'program' in the states that offers addicts money for them to be steralised...something about making sure it is not passed down to the children...they might steralise you too if you are thirsty when you go to see them;-)

Friend sent me it the other day...pretty shocking IMO maybe a discussion for another thread? They just stepped up their 'recruitment' campaign hence why its in the press...who knows maybe it is a good option for an addict, dunno...

Sorry, but this trial doesn't strike me as
being too ethical. Encouraging alcoholics to drink for money ? And how many relapses might this trial trigger? Certainly research needs to be done, but it depends by whom. Some alcoholics may even allow themselves to justify drinking again by kidding themselves into thinking it's for a good cause... Personally I wouldn't touch it.

I used to do it on my own $$. Imagine someone paying me to drink? And the contract? Must read like loop-hole heaven... Someone to pay, someone to blame, someone to sue. Goldmine! Any self-respecting alcoholic with any sense of dignity and responsibility isn't gonna fall for this...
Oh WAIT!!
I'd like to request invoking Rule #62...

I disagree with this.
Needle programs are about harm reduction for the participants (spread of STD's).
I do not agree with supporting the ongoing alcohol abuse of the participants for such an indirect, speculative ?benefit? (research results).
