If I knew today was my last day on earth... I had an amazing experience today. The thought crossed my mind, "If I knew today was my last day on earth, would I drink?" I could actually answer "no"! I thought of my kids, family, friends, and enjoyments. Drinking would cloud it all away. Nope, I would not drink today if it was my last day on earth and I will not drink today - living it as if it is actually my last day on earth... Just had to share! Thanks for letting me! That's an awesome thought! I have to agree 150% - I wouldn't drink either, not a chance. |
I think I'd probably be too busy to think about drinking :) D |
I so agree. If I was to drink it would ruin the day....wouldn't it. Interesting thought. |
Geez - drinking would be a terrible way to go out, all that self-loathing and shame coming back, knowing I'd have thrown my integrity into the gutter, where I'd probably puke later anyway. This sounds better: :bbq |
If I knew today was my last, I'd eat so much chocolate cake that I'd be burping Hershey's Kisses, lol. Way to go on the upbeat message!! |
If I knew today was my last day on earth, I sure would not drink and ruin it. I would want to remember every second. I would tell everyone what they have meant to me and if possible to make any amends. Sure would not want to meet my maker without doing the right thing. PS: A few pieces of chocolate wouldn't hurt either. |
When I used to drink....I would think...please God don't let me die before I get sober. I didn't want to carry that into the next phase. So no....I would not drink:-) |
Wow. I wouldn't drink either. That is nice to realize before 7am! Thank you! |
I wouldn't drink either. It's funny, earlier today I was thinking about exactly the same thing: living every day like it was my last one. Big responsibility :) Bring it on! |
I probably would drink, but I'm new to sobriety. However, today isn't my last day so I won't be drinking.......... |

I don't know. I'd really have to cross that bridge when I was standing in front of it. I used to think if it was my last day on earth, I'd end it drunk. The last time a really serious hurricane came through (about 2 years ago), I told my husband to let me know if he thought we were going to die. I wanted to drink if that was the case. I didn't want to go out without having one last glass of scotch. At that time, I had less than a year's sobriety. Now, I just don't know. I am not as certain that I'd like to end things drinking. That does make me ask, though, how I would like to end things. I'd think I would want to spend that last day doing something I really enjoyed. Perhaps, if I saw the end of the road coming, I'd have a clear idea of what that is. This is a hard question. :D Thanks for asking it. |
Time flies, 12/20/2012 will be here soon (the end of the earth according to Aztec Mythology). When I was drinking I saw a documentary about it and assured myself that I would spend that entire week drunk, just in case... just kidding.... I am happily sober these days.... |
 I would have a Litre of Coke Zero & spend the day with my Husband, Kids & family members ................................Today this is all i desire :) |
Very good post. It seems we drink to erase the days, almost to cancel them out. We all are given a certain amount of time on earth and we chose to spend some of them (most of them for me) unconcious. Great post, really opened my eyes to my own stupidity!!! |
I had to think about this for a few minutes. And some may not agree. OK, it's my last day on earth, and I know it. I'm going out with a bang. I'm gonna get the finest Whisky on Earth and sip it on the rocks all day. I'm gonna find and smoke some Crystal Meth. I'm gonna fly a jet fighter. I'm gonna drive a NASCAR car at 200MPH. I'm gonna sky dive. I'm gonna bungee jump. (I can't say what I would do with all the women I could get) It's like my "bucket list", right? BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, no one has yet to say this is for sure my last day on earth. Therefore, I am still going forward, ONE DAY AT A TIME, sober, clean, and loving life as it is. :c031: |

How would you celebrate? For me, with just two months of sobriety, it would be hard not to buy that bottle (or case) of champagne. |
If it were my last day, I'd want to spend it talking to my family. Enjoying my kids. I would not want to be sitting on the couch, alone, in a stupor. |
I expect to be 75 in november.....I'm grateful I don't know when my final day will be.... Best I just accept that it will be sooner than later and live accordingly.......:yup: That will not include drinking ...I want to remain alert and excited to begin another life. |
Certainly not! I wouldn't want to make myself sick on my last day.:) |
