Mark, Never let embarrassment keep you from being 100% up front and honest with your doctor! If he doesn't know, he can't help you! I live in a very high stress, competitive area in N. Virginia. When I told my doctor just how much I was drinking, he stopped taking notes so nothing was written down, told me he admits people all the time for detox but has them admitted for "gastric disturbances" or some other such nonsense, just to get them in. He told me he hears _exactly_ what I was telling him from several high performing, high income people a week so he was not the least bit surprised and I was not near alone as I thought I was!
Best of luck to you man! I recall reading someone else's post here which I really liked, they said (about the first couple of weeks w/o alcohol that sucks so bad), "You only have to go thru this once". It's no fun until you come out on the other side.
