6 months and still have elevated liver function??

Hey all.

The good news is Wednesday I'll have 6 months . The obsession with drinking or how long i've not been drinking left me about a month or so ago. I really don't think about it anymore. which is great.

Now for the bad news.

I'm applying for life insurance, and will be applying for health insurance in the next couple of months.

I got bloodwork back from the life insurance company and they said my liver function was elevated.
GGTP 18, (normal) SGOT 64 (should be 0-33) SGPT 130 (should be 0-45) My premiums are quite a bit higher because of this.

Does anyone know if this is something that will go down with excersise, weight loss, good diet, and obviously abstinence? Could I have cihrohsis?

I'm going to be going to my doctor soon to talk about all of this stuff, but it's not going to be for a couple weeks/months.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

I would see that medical professional to accurately interpret your results and, presumably, set your mind at ease JSG.

Why wait a couple of weeks/months?

i used to be an insurance company executive for one of the major life insurance companies in my state. what you have are high numbers to qualify for supplemental life insurance but not what doctors consider to be high. there's a difference.

Not all the damage we do to our bodies is completely reversable.. I recommend verifying the numbers with your doctor and inquiring about any treatment/tips for healthy living that might help out.

Awesome work Just but as others have shared....Go to the Dr. It could be many things but this is best not to try and self diagnose.

All the best Way to go!!

Well they certainly won't go up by not drinking. I would just not drink every again as it does your body no good. Congrats on 6 months, that is awesome!!

your doctor may also refer you to a nephrologist for further testing...

it's best to really have a thorough DX...because it could be something else that needs to be addressed.

and congrats!!!! for your 6 months, you are certainly helping your body.
