Itsme, are you following any particular program or plan? Personally- I couldn't "just quit". Not that I didn't try many, many times to do it my way. I'm glad you're here... pick yourself up and dust off, and consider that to be your practice run; today's the day. And I do urge you to see what's out there in terms of f2f support and aid... it's out there- all you have to do is go get it.
Best, s

No I am not on a perticular program. And I'm excited to goto aa but I wont be able to go until wendsday. The mental anguish involved in these hangover is far worse than the psyical.

ItsMe,
Since you're heading to AA anyway, let me throw out an idea to keep in mind. Did you decide, 8 days ago, that you were going to drink last night?
Or did you decide that you were going to stop drinking, and found that 8 days later, you lacked the willpower to not drink?
I know it probably seems like you 'decided' to drink last night. But really, you decided 8 days ago to not drink, and you lacked the power to manage that decision.
The 8 day ago decision was the decision you consciously made. The last night drinking was the result of lack of power. And then the alcoholic mind plays all sorts of games to give you the illusion of control. Games like, 'I decided' to drink last night.
Just something to keep in mind at that AA meeting.

I was lacking the control a WHOLE lotta time that I didn't drink.....thinking it was me controlling it. "Walking around asleep, dreaming I was awake." Really makes me wonder what I'm STILL asleep to now?!
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace

Some guidance 4 u...
Exerpt from doctors opinion in BB of AA:
"Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are restless, irritable and discontented, unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks-drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an entire psychic change there is very little hope of his recovery.
On the other hand-and strange as this may seem to those who do not understand-once a psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed doomed, who had so many problems he despaired of ever solving them, suddenly finds himself easily able to control his desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to follow a few simple rules.
"
AA will give you hope and help with the steps!
Bonne Chance (good luck)
