Time Takes Time
Time Takes Time
In, "A Vision For You," there's a line that says, "..obviously you can't transmit something you haven't got."
An OldTimer said something to the effect, that the difference in carrying the "mess" and the "message" was -age. Time takes time...
Are you carrying the mess, or the message?

Sorry. "A Vision For You," is the last chapter in the AA text. It's a book about drunks by drunks for drunks. It's a message of hope to the still suffering alcoholics wondering how they can quit.

Once you work the 12 steps of AA to get your spiritual awakening you are as "qualified" as anyone in AA to carry the message to someone else still suffering regardless of sober time...
Anyone who hasn't done the above is carrying the mess:-)

I like that saying. I have felt that several times in my 17 months of sobriety. I feel like taking on the world and doing this and doing that and making up for lost time when I was drinking. At the end of the day all that matters is that I stayed away from alcohol another day.
The days do add up, one day at a time...
Someone once read from pp70 of "Daily Reflections," where it says, "Time is a gift, not a threat." That resonated with me because I was always planning the next big thing, you know? Remember that scene in, "Vacation," where Chevy Chase is standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon with his kids for about 5 seconds? That was me: Gotta get life done before its finished!
Thank GOD it's not that way today.
