I have known alcoholics who drank that stuff when they ran out of other booze. I stick to a warm mist humidifier, neti pot, and tons of green tea with lemon and honey. I also take mega doses of vitamin c but don't do that without consulting a doctor first

At the moment, I am in the midst of a hit-by-a-truck bug. Lousy.

Yesterday, I went to a pharmacy to look for something and explained to the pharmacist that it could not contain alcohol. He recommended TheraFlu Nighttime. It's a packet that you dissolve in hot water.

Feeling slightly better today -- which may be the Day 2 effect as much as anything -- but I think the TheraFlu has helped.

Ok, I have no opinion on NyQuil.
But I LOVE this: "Always trust your cape."

You know what I love most about this thread making it back to the top? Carol D lives in these forums whenever past posts become current again. Always full of wisdom she was.

Chewing raw garlic will take care of a cold. The antiviral properties cleared me up in 24 hours about ten days ago. NyQuil treats only symptoms, which is the case with most cold medicines.

Zicam is good, but compared to a couple bulbs of garlic, cost is an issue.

I used to "treat" my colds with bourbon and decongestants. Blech.

I like seeing our dear Carol. "sIde by side, shoulder to shoulder, forward we go" inspired me.

I use alka seltzer cold plus. Works great for me, clearing the head and no side effects. Works quickly, wears off quickly, about four hours.

Love from Lenina

I don't know if it still is but Nyqil used to be 20% alcohol which is 40 proof. I wouldn't even have it in the house let alone drink it

I think Nyquil is great. as long as I use for what it was intended for. It's not like i'm at a bar drinking it. If I feel like **** nothing is pleasant. and I always sleep like a baby and I helps.....

I've known alcoholics that have abused anything with alcohol in listerine, vanilla, nyquil, hand sanatizer.

Taking things as directed is a concept I don't understand
