I dreamt I had a dream about booze

Day 62

Last night I had a dream where I was asleep and dreamt about booze. A dream within a dream...

I was frantically putting frozen orange juice into a plastic bag as fast as I could, then reached for a bottle of vodka behind me but grabbed and poured in some bitter dark beer instead, then I found the vodka and poured that all in. After mixing it all up I was about to take a drink when I thought to myself, "what the h*** am I doing!??!"

I then woke up from the dream within the dream and thought to myself, "Phew, that was close! I feel so good that I didn't blow it!!" Then I woke from the dream and thought, "Man, that was weird."

The sense of satisfaction at not drinking was very, very real.

A dream within a dream sounds cool!
I am glad you woke up satisfied to be sober!

Whoa....... that's a new one on me!

I've had plenty of drinking dreams - always woke up feeling guilty that I drank, then glad it was just a dream, then scared/ashamed that I drank in the dream because I was in sobriety in the dream and drank anyway. LOL

Never had a dream where I fell asleep and dreamt though. Sounds cool and spooky at the same time.

Ah, the infamous drunk dream. I have them on occasion, and I'm not really a fan. My sponsor calls them "a free relapse." I never really understood that one... ???

What he probably meant, Brian, is that you get to experience the horror of it without actually DOING it.

It's a handy reminder of how awful we'd feel if we let our sobriety go.
