Blood pressure..
Every now and again I check my blood pressure, I was amazed at my reading yesterday..120/78.. the best it's ever been! I can recall doing once when I was drinking and it was so high... this score is thanks to holidays and no booze!!! I'm so thrilled!!!! One of the many advantages of being a non drinker!!
i remember detoxing and getting a couple of readings that were 200-203/117-124 with blurry vision, and thinking i was gonna stroke. unreal. the last time i took it, it was 122/82.
i've only been sober for a little over 8 months, but it really feels like a lifetime ago. i can't believe i lived like that for so long.

I totally agree. I think we all know smoking is bad for you, spilling McDonalds coffee all over yourself will hurt and drinking while pregnant isn't exactly great...but I had no idea alcohol had such a dramatic effect on BP 'til recently and theres no mention of it...unlike the other totally obvious things I mentioned. (BTW, don't stick your pinky in a pencil sharpener, the warnings say not to.)
I was just at the pharmacy and there is this big color photo by the cigarettes of blackened lungs. Maybe stores that sell alcohol should have a big poster as you walk in of a liver in advanced chirrosis (sp?).

Aweosme Job! It feels good doesnt it? I had the same thing happen. From age 18 to 27 I had very high blood pressure. How many people that age are put on medication for it? Without the alcohol mine is down to a healthy range. And I feel so much better.
Keep up the good work!

Booze affects our kidneys
Booze dehydrates us which causes the kidneys to elevate BP as well as the fact that every time chronic drinkers aren't drinking is a mini-withdrawal which causes the kidneys to spike our BP.
I was always on the high side of good or slightly higher but I had a true physical exam with a physician yesterday and had a single time reading of 110/60 with a resting heart rate of 72 bpm. Not trying to be a jerk or steal anyone's thunder but go me!
Now if only I could get significantly less fat....
