Hi my dear friends at SR!! Im back from my vacation!!...my SOBER vacation This vacation was the best I have ever had!! I seen things in an entire new light..how beautiful things are...and how I cherished the moments of laying on the beach...or swimming and floating on my air mattress..and gazing at the stars at night...it was wonderful....I felt so at peace....for once in my life not drinking didn't bother me..I loved it...I seen so much more, did so much more,noticed so much more, than I ever did drinking...times before everything on vacation meant drinking...I am so grateful that chapter in my life is closed.... It honestly feels like I"ve been reborn!! and I just couldn't be happier!!

Time to get caught up here! missed all of you! xoxoxo

Wonderful--so glad you had a great time.

It's a big relief when we discover that we can still enjoy stuff without drinking.

I'm just over a year alcohol-free and I've been thinking about what it'd be like to go on a vacation without drinking. All of my past vacations involved vast amounts of alcohol, and pretty much 24/7. I also liked all-inclusive vacations because of the all-you-can-eat and drink factor, and I always got my money's-worth of alcohol. Now, if/when I go on vacation, I'm looking forward to getting my money's-worth on everything else but alcohol... :-)

isn't it amazing how much you realize how beautiful life can be without booze?

i remember the first day i really got that appreciation was a cool march morning i went to go work on my wife's car at just before sunrise. it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. i just looked at the sun breaking through the clouds and smiled at it all. it was like one of those spectacular sun rises you see in the movies or in a painting... it was awsome.

I know exactly what you mean,it's like a peace we as alcoholics have never had before..each day to me is so precious now...seems like I wasted so many years stuck in the bottle that I want to soak every moment in for all its worth...and appreciate them....I think this trip was a very spiritual one for me...a turning point I think, I just feel like yelling off the roof tops how wonderful life really is!!
