Thats like saying, tomorrow I will start my diet, it never happens. Glad you made it a day, keep up the great work, do fun stuff like hiking and do things with your wife you didnt do before. go to a local lake, just have fun and you will forget about drinking. congrats
Excellent BigTex - you can do it.
My advice on the sleep thing is not to battle it. I just get up for a while and read, write, listen, meditate, whatever for while and then cat nap on the couch until dawn. If I battle it I get frustrated, so I just go with it. A fella can get some serious thinking done at three in the morning.

I experienced the sweating. I read somewhere that it has to do with your liver. This has been several years ago, though, so don't get me to lying.
Congratulations on making it one day. I quit a lot like you did. I didn't go to meetings. I didn't go into any treatment center. I just quit. I've stuck with it 2+ years. You can make this work.
I'm not trying to imply that meetings or treatment programs are bunk. I'm here at SR because I realized I was going to have to find a support system or start drinking again. I just wanted to let you know that there's no one way to get sober. Find the way that works for you, no matter what it is.
Can relate to the sweating thing...I always thought of it as a cleansing aspect to getting sober, it helped:-)
Sounds like you've got your wife on your side, that helps:-)
I agree with Lildawg, there is no one way to get sober, but SR is a great resource and support network, we are all cheering for you!

I dont think you should wait but I would be lying if I told you it would be easy if you already drank today. Dont think of tomorrow as a new day, just look at that friggin beer screwing up your life and say you will be the last one

sorry I guess I didnt read the thread all the way through. Congrats on day 2 BigTex. I use to drink about 12 beers a day also. It was hard to stop because it seemed to be such a big part of my life. I finally feel better without it, I hope you will feel the same too...Soon
