Day 7 - the key to a craving-free start enclosed
Get the flu.
I've been so sick the last 5 days. Two of them I didn't even leave my room except to go to the bathroom and during the first three days I only had about 1 and a half meals. But, I didn't have a single craving over what is the hardest part of sobriety, which is good. So I have a nice headstart, a bit of momentum. I'm slowly getting over it, still have an annoying cough and a runny nose, and a bit of the chills, AND still no cravings. I broke some other bad habits too - I haven't had any caffeine either.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend it.

So sorry to hear you have been sick. I got the flu too during my detox, it was tough!
If I hadn't decided I was done drinking and been in detox, I still would have drank. I'm that kind of drunk. I drank no matter what. I'm so grateful I don't have that life anymore. And happy that you don't either today.
Best wishes for you.

Severe withdrawal symptoms were always good for keeping me sober for 5 - 15 days. Unfortunately the day would come when I felt up to "having a few" and the cycle would start all over again.
I would recommend using this grace period to make some new friends (fellowship), find some good advice (sponsor) and learn a new way of life (recovery).
