Just wanted to say..

I'm kind of a lurker, quite shy, and not much of the type to share things or talk much but I've been reading this site for a few years now and wanted to say...

Thank you owner(s) of this site
Thank you moderators
Thank you to those who have shared your experiences of being hurt
Thank you to those who share your experiences in both addiction and recovery

I may or may not ever become normal or perfect, but I've learned so much about myself, and the right way to get out of the mess that my life became.

I want to share that the most important things I've learned is that:

I need to let go of those things that aren't helping me or are holding me back
Life is one big process
I'm lovable no matter how much I've been wronged
Resentments or jealousy keep me stuck
Do not let abuse make me become an abuser
Defend myself if necessary. Do not let people walk all over me
Forgive those who have wronged me (not only for them but for me)
There are no handouts in life
Addiction's major ingredient is deceit, to others and myself
Now that I have understanding, it is now my responsibility to no longer allow myself to be a victim
I have to be honest to myself and others
I have to continuously work on my present (whether it be work, relationships, skills, talents) in order to achieve better for the future.

It has been a very very long process, everyday I understand and untangle and rewire myself a bit more. I catch myself regularly not liking certain things about myself, and adjusting as necessary. It has been such a long road but I hope one day I'll have things worked out for myself and be someone great!

Once again, thank you all for giving me so much, most importantly, hope!

Thank you keepstrong!

It does no harm to share here in these pages. If you don't like someone on your posts then move them out from being able to read what you have out there. If you need help in ANYTHING you are having problems with, then please feel free to type away with your questions. I'm sure you'll get lots of responses. There are hundreds on SR from around the world whom have walked in many different shoes in their DOC.

Thanks for posting!

I am glad you are here, and sharing. It shows me, at least- that you have the desire to change. I hope you will continue on your path to enlightenment There are so many who deny the many paths to healing- to both themselves, and others. I wish you the best on your journey. And thank you for sharing your knowledge, thus far. Stay with us, don't fear You are a part of our collective process. Thank you.
