There's no way in the nine hells I'm allowing my life to return to ruin.

I had MASSIVE cravings last night while I was visiting a group of friends.

I was thinking: "just one beer would be so awesome right now."

And: "What's the problem? I gave it up for a year, so I've proven I'm stronger than it."

So I ducked out, went to a DQ drive through, and ordered myself the largest milkshake of all time, and downed that sucker pronto to fill myself up.

I then returned to the party feeling better.

F**k alcohol

Good for you DRK.
I know they say we aren't supposed to consume sugar. But I have said it many times. After eating a big piece of chocolate cake, or anything sweet like that. Beer or anything else with alcohol in it just doesn't sound good.
Keep on keepin on.

The cravings still do occur for me Kerbcrawler, but they're few and far between at one yr.

i used to drink a lot of milkshakes. There was a McDs right next to my carry out place, that i drive past on my way home from work. I'd get tempted, then quickly run in McDs and get a large chocolate

Hey, sugar helps me. Probably not the best for my health but a hell of a lot better than Maker's Mark and I'll never get arrested for "driving while fat".

McD's Chocolate milkshake was my preffered drink to dull any slight niggle of a beer or anything if I was out shopping or something. Like has already been said I found a cold milkshake to totally kill any thought/desire for an beer or any other alcoholic beverage, or indeed any beverage or food whatsoever!

Before you pick up a beer down a milkshake first. Guaranteed to dull the cravings. I also used to drink a lot of Coca-Cola or Dr Pepper in chilled cans when i was still early in recovery at weekends. (everyday was a weekend as i was unemployed! LOL)

I like the attitude F*ck alcohol. You won't go far wrong if you stick with that. Well done on 1 year sober. That is a real achievemnt for a non-alcoholic, let alone an alcoholic. Nice one!

peace

Escape Route - check

ice cream - check

Good Goin' Drk. The more I work on the 12 steps (and thus my spirituality) the less often I have those. I do get 'em every once and a while though. I look at such events as my turn to carry the load for a minute or two. Not that it's a test from God or something like that but there's nothing wrong with us pulling our end of the bargain.

Drk, this is a more trivial reaction, but I like the expression "there is no way in nine hells," ha ha.

Just curious, who are you talking about when you say "they" and who are you talking about when you say "we"?
