Going to see the Judge today

Well today I will find out if I will remain free or will be incarcerated for another 18 months. Turns out that I was released early back in 2008. This is just the type of situation that sobriety prepares us for. Wish me luck.

It all depends on the judge's character. If she is afraid and shy you will be free. If she is tough then you will go back to the claustrophobic prison cell. Only God can help you.

That's terrible, I'm so sorry for your attorney's behaviour. Hope you find a better one, I wouldn't be paying a drunk attourney either. I would be totally pissed right off, no wonder the judge was. Hopefully your sobriety will only benefit you next time in front of the judge.
Good luck

Wow, that is irony. I'm sorry to hear that. Sad times for both you and the attorney. I imagine they're being disbarred?

Whats is even funnier is that we are arguing about 18 months in a DOC rehab. My PO never sent me when I got out Dec of 08. I have been sober and active in my recovery, never had a dirty urine, and no trouble. But the Judge still wants me to go. I think that would be a waste of a bed for someone who really needs it.

stu, i am so sorry that your attorney is so unprofessional! your freedom is on the line and it's definitely a good move for you to secure different counsel. I don't know what DOC rehab is, but surely with all your months of sobriety you will inspire someone there.

DOC is Department of Corrections. Basically locked up for 18 month to acheive what I have already. Senseless to me.

I'm unfortunately very familiar with DOC. (late fiance' and the revolving door at 49th St in Clearwater) I just didn't realize that it was considered "rehab". where's the sense in that? My late ABF was so terrified he was going that he went completely bonkers and in a sense had a last hoorah and died of an overdose. You're right. DOC rehab would be wasting a bed for you who are committed opposed to someone like my late ABF that could've REALLY benefitted from it.

If you're clean and working (contributing to society) the judge would have to be an @ss to put you back in causing you to lose you taxpaying job. If ya ask me.

Over six months clean, Make this really clear to your next attourney. Hopefully you can get the message through to an already overcrowded corrections system. Are you already seeing a counsellor or actively involved in AA to help at all. Would only benefit you to show how actively serious you are in improving your life and give you more official backup in front of the judge.

when, given the choice to be locked up, covered up or, sobered up the choice has remained pretty clear to me.
I see so many people in the revolving door of recovery at a rehab where, I go to meetings most every Friday night

Actually almost 2 years clean. 7/19/08 is my sobriety date. And I am VERY active in the sober community here.

Hope that helps you in court. Get as much documentation as you can.

You should be very proud of your sobriety and accomplishments. Great job
