I've had it. I haven't had an attack since I was a month sober, but before that, the attacks were chronic for about a year.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

My dad almost died from pancreatitis (yes from drinking).

Also, my mom claims that one of my dads uncles died from Pancreatits, and that my grandpa might have too (although death certificate said heart attack). I have no idea about the validity of the last two things, they are just hearsay.

chanel1125.....
Sorry to know you are having pain...

I certainly hope you will be checking with your doctor
about this serious health risk. Please be honest
about your drinking....so she/he can best plan a
course of action for your healing.

My Mother....a non drinker died of pancreatic cancer.
Please don't waste time in finding out what to do.

Hi,

Since August 2009 I have had four acute attacks requiring hospitalisation but I also had gallstones. I drink like a fish unfortunately and since the pancreatitis is now chronic it is vital I stop this. A great forum for all information pancreatitis related is here - UK based Pancreatitis Support Forum :: Index

The members are very knowledgeable and lovely ppl actually. It is a UK based site.

I hope u haven't had to suffer too much with this terrible disease.

Hello there. I had pancreatitis the very first time due too a complication from and ERCP which was needed before my gallbladder surgery. At that time I did not drink to speak of. I thought I was gonna die and from what the ER DR said I could of. I stayed in the hospital NPO for 5 days on IV antibiotics and away from my family also on a morphine pump for pain.

I began drinking whiskey after my husband and I were divorcing and sure enough I got it again only after drinking small amounts because I was not a drinker but having had Panc I was more suseptible for it's return. This time it was due to ETOH. I had to go on antibiotics and they were not cheap and I was so sick and embarrassed.

Anyway, I hope that you feel better. Take Care

I've had it a few times bad enough for hospitalization, but recently I think the pain is just constantly there. It's quite frankly a pain in my butt.

Yes, it is very embarrassing, only mine isn't only from drinking. The doc said my ED has had a big impact on everything as well.

I don't know, I just had never heard of many people having it.
