What age did you start drinking??
What age did you start drinking??
I started drinking at a very early age. my drinking habits at an early age had me trying to out drink my peers. needless to say, I always kept up that drinking pattern.
I'm wondering what the average posters drinking was like.

Had my first drink at age 10 or 11 (three wine coolers) and LOVED how it made me feel. Stared drinking regularly at the age of 13. First alcohol-related driving offense at age 16. I blew .08 and at the time it was under the legal limit so I didn't get a DUI, just probation. Drinking nearly every day by the age of 18. Continued for more than a miserable decade.
I admire people who get sober early. The only difference, as I see it, between me and a "One chip wonder" is that they were willing to go to any lengths from the get-go and I wasn't.

The first time I got drunk I was 14, but I didn't start regularly drinking until I was 18ish. I always hung out with a party crowd and regular drinking (getting completely and totally trashed) was usually five times a week. Drinking alone didn't begin until 22ish and that didn't become a nightly thing until I was maybe 25.
I've not met too many alcoholics that, started drinking later in life. A few but not too many started early or by legal drinking age.
The people I have met like that seemed to drink like they had to catch up with the rest of us though

Can't remember the age my Dad would give me a little glass of beer, when he would grab a beer after coming home from work.
On my conscience own, I think I was 14 or 15. I did not become a problem drinker till late 30's after a divorvce. I guess I'm emotional stuck at that early age per the alcohol evaluation.
Love all these polls, Capt. I can see similarities and differences between all of us. Quite a learning experience.

I started drinking at age 19- which is legal here in Canada. It was weird I was a good kid in highschool but once I started drinking it messed me up. I moved out and was drinking all the time with people , and buying my own alcohol. I never got into drinking to bad, but I definately crave it and if I drink it definately leads to other stuff like using drugs.
I never really drank until I was 21. before 21 I only drank maybe 3 times...once when a kid in High School stole one of his ol' mans fifth of Southern Comfort and I hade a few big swigs out of that. And then about two other times when my sister gave me a few wine coolers. But never really started what I would call "drinking" until my 21st B day....and I was a full blown alcoholic by the time I was 22

15...I was the dork kid who did not fit in with any group. Cheated one of the popular kids through 7th grade and got invited to a party, peer pressured into it and a whole new persona was born, had to drink till drunk every time I partied to be "fun". I met a lot of people and that has taken me to a spot where I have a bright future...Alcohol helped get me there...Now I have been strugguling 4 years to get rid of the alcoholism because it is starting to take all that away and now I am depressed all the time out of guilt. Since I decided to seriously go the distance and try anything...even "exposing" (thats how it felt the first day) my self to an AA group I am quite happy just out of the thought of living without booze! Sorry to ramble....

I start drinking heavy at 17.
I first got drunk at 8...i was sneaking unfinished drinks at a dinner party, they put me to bed and i fell down the stairs with a pillow i had fallen in love with and proceeded to tell everyone that the pillow was a girl i had a crush on at school.
On the drive home, remember im 8, i said we should all go the pier arcade to play the machines, my mother said why on earth would they take me in that state so i called her a ****, got a smack and fell asleep in the back of the car with my pillow...
