Day 1 (hoepfully)
I cannot drink tonight-I have a job interview in the early AM - I need this job and dont want to show up smelling of alcohol.
Scared about insomnia tonight too...
If I can do it today I am going to make today DAY ONE. I know I should not do this alone-and I wont. Any suggestions other than AA?
Thanks for this forum

You can do this! It's not easy doing it alone, trust me! Tomorrow is 6 months for me and I'm just starting to get my life back. I'm here with ya,just like many others on here,to try and help you in any way we can! I wish you well, and go get that job! Sober and with confidence. Let me know if I can help in any way at all!

I often stayed up all night before an interview
too excited by the new opportunity to sleep.
Drinking had nothing to do with this.
I've been an AA recovered alcoholic for years.

Best of luck to you at your interview. If you don't sleep well tonight, just try to rest. Every time I stopped drinking, it was usually because I "had to" for an appointment or something... and my anxiety would get bad. The anxiety alone made it hard to sleep.
Try and relax, and if you can make this day one, just go for it. It took me about 3 nights before I got a good nights rest, but now I sleep and dream and wake up rested most days, and stopping was so worth it... Only 11 days, and my world is not fully recovered yet, but I am glad about where I am going. You can do it too if you really want to.

ooh I hope it worked out for you! Best of luck on getting the job!!! oh and the best thing I have found to not drink so far is distraction. Painting, reading, games, movies, cleaning, whatever. Keeping my thoughts occupied makes it easier for me. Maybe it will for you too.
Hang in there!!! :ghug3
