Been Sober for 3 Weeks

The Friday that passed makes it three weeks. I've been so so. My emotions have been like a roller coaster. I woke up one morning and felt really down. It was weird - I wanted to cry (can you imagine that).

My head feels clear, but everyone keeps referencing a fog that lifts. Is it beyond how I feel now. Can anyone describe this feeling. I've been in a buzzed/drunk state for the past 20 years.

Thanks all. I'm going to start posting more.

I was in a fog right before I quit which was one of the main reasons I was finally ready to quit. After that I had the anxiety, sweats and all the other nervous stuff but no more fog. You will get passed that panicky state soon, I did right around three weeks. Next will likely be the remorse for things you have done and missing your dead family member named Alcohol.

Hang in there, you will be feeling "Normal" before you know it. I recently passed two months and finally felt the psychological part of the addiction start to lift. It was right about the same amount of time that it took my body to be over cigarettes. If you can make it past that point you will be all smooth sailing.

The toughest part for all of us is abstinence for the rest of our lives. A new chapter I have only just begun myself.

Keep up the great effort and pretty soon it will all be down hill for you.

I think it's great that you have no brain fog to contend with.
My experience and info is that it begins sooner so
I think you luckily missed the deal....

I felt back in balance physically and mentally
by the end of 2 months of AA recovery.

Well done on your sober time...glad to know you
plan to share with us more often.

Congrats on 3 weeks Mr Furley

It gets easier as our emotions level out - hang in there!

Congrats on 3 weeks! Shortly after 3 weeks the really good stuff started to happen to me. Hopefully it does for you too!

EDIT: Are you getting exercise? That might help you feel better.

CJ.
