Hey guys...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that maybe somebody missed me lol...

Holidays, family, etc etc...

Just stoppin by to tell yall that things have been going really well for me lately...

I've had a little over a week sober this time and feel different somehow.

(I know, broken record and all that)..

But something new and exciting is that I gave up smoking this week...

Been five days.. so that's just another reason why I cannot... must not.... pick up another drink ....... ever.

Cos the moment I do, not only will I lose my sobriety, I'll also almost undoubtedly lose my will to stay smoke free..

Also, some really great news.. I FINALLY got a job interview..

Went to it today and it went spectacularly well..

I'm really hopeful that I get the job...

Either way I'm happy, tho... happy to be here, healthy, alive, and sober.

Sober just for today.

Good to hear from you debs!
I like your perseverance, even if it was a rollercoaster ride, and it is geat that things are going so well at the moment. I have been wondering what you've been up to .

I know some say that quitting smoking and quitting drinking simultaneously is too stressful for mind and body and it is not recommended, but that's what I did and it worked for me. I came to think that for some of us, smoking and drinking is so connected that the one can be a trigger for the other. Even the smokers I know that are not alcoholics tend to agree.

I also used this as an additional way to motivate myself in early sobriety.

Debs, I wish you good luck for this new year, job and sobriety wise , and may it be a new beginning for you. Hugs, S.

Actually yes I was wondering how you were doing.
Congrats on over a week, and also on smokes.
It wasn't long after I quit smoking that I realized them cigs STINK. <G>. Just another addiction.
Glad you are sticking with this. You gotta be persistent to succeed at anything.

I still smoke cigars. Thankfully it's not an everyday type of thing. Good for you for quitting smoking too. And yeah, it's that first drink that does it.

Every day I park my butt in the chair with the name "Debs" on it and keep it warm for you, yes we miss our members when they're absent and we pray for their safety.

It'll just keep getting better and better Debs, as long as you stay sober and commit yourself to whatever it takes for your recovery. I promise

Hey I have been absent from the boards for a bit... but what an encouragement to come back and see you doing good. Take everything as easy as you can and try not to be unrealistic about the pains of early recovery... But nonetheless I am happy to see you--congrats on your time
