Weight loss

A bottle of red wine has a bit more than 500 (empty) calories. My bad habit of 3-4 bottles each day add up to 1500-2000 additional calories (on top of a full day of food calories)! A pound of fat has approximately 3500 calories. My back of the napkin calculation leads me to believe that I could potentially drop 3-4 pounds per week by just knocking off the booze.

If this isn't added incentive for a tubby guy then I don't know what is!

I'm confident alcohol is a real bummer when it comes to weight gain.

Today marks day 18 for me and I've been working out and eating healthy everyday (since the 3rd or 4th day) and I've lost 4% body fat already according the device at the gym a couple of days ago.

My BP, weight, resting heart rate, and BMI are all down as well.

A definite fringe benefit for me, whilst concentrating on really resoring myself to sanity and getting my life more maneagable, as i lost just under 4 stone in 5 months...

I've lost weight as well since I stopped drinking, though not as much as I could have as I've pigged out on the sweets a bit! Well, new year's resolution to cut down on the sugar, I guess.

I'm only 3 days sober so time will tell. My normal weight is around 70kg I'm currently closer to 90kg!

Sometimes I didn't eat my evening meal so I could drink a bit more in a vain attempt at balancing out my calorie intake.

I lost two pounds in two weeks and gained two the next two. Guess I'm eating more to compensate lol.

I would love to lose a few pounds, before I would just rather drink then eat, I didn't have room for both!! I do know that *IF* I get hungry, I immediately want a drink. So I am trying to beware of the dreaded triggers!!

Day 2

yes, weight drop is a perk of getting sober... I recall losing 20 pounds in my first month... but the flip side is that the body realizes it's starving for the alcohol sugar so begins setting up sugar and bread cravings -- watch out for that.

When I quit I also went overboard on the sugars and have since joined the OS (obvious sweets) 100 day challenge here under eating disorders, I an just starting again as of the New Year. There is plenty of support there for people that want to get their sugar habit under control.
I have also started a 12 week fitness program as of today if anyone wants to join.
It is all about positive activities for me to remain sober.

I was really doing good on my sugar intake, then went on a pie bender over the holidays. For New Years I had a Marie Callendar's chocolate cream pie, and had the WORST sugar hangover of my life! Owwww! I had a bowl of whole wheat pasta with butter and lemon and felt better.

My name's WakeUp and I'm powerless over sugar; my life has become unmanagable.

Time to get back on the low sugar wagon.

I'm trying to be good when I get sugar cravings, going for things like melon and other sweet fruits, but I can't help but dig into the chocolate every now and then.

I guess I'm lucky in that apart from exessive boozing my diet was pretty healthy on the whole.
