Wish me luck.

I know I've had a problem for years now... When I start drinking, I lose all track of time, family, commitments and so on.

I went on a bender last thursday and friday evening... You know, different Holiday parties. This gave me one of the worst hangovers of my life. I'm tired of them. I'm tired of putting myself into positions to where I can hurt myself or other people.

I'm married and have THREE wonderful children. I've GOT to get my act together. So, I think my gift to myself for Christmas this year will be sobriety.

Wish me luck...

Thanks.

Hey there Video man. Welcome to SR! You sound exactly like myself....wife...3 great young kids who look up to me. I drink wayy to much for someone who`s supposed to be a responsible adult and role model for my kids.
I think that is best thing you could do for yourself AND your whole family, is to be a sober husband and father this Christmas I`m going to try and do the same!
Stick around and do lots of reading. This is a great place to be. You can do it!!

I found that luck didn't get me very far.
I had to work hard. I can't ever let my guard down.
But I do wish you good luck.

I will work hard not to let my guard down... That's the tough part, the illusion that you can have control again.

It's just a illusion.

With hard work and a little bit of luck, I know I can beat this.

mmeat,

I've been reading some of your earlier post... We are VERY similar about our drinking habits.

Let's try to get through the Holidays... We've gotta be strong Dad's for our kiddos.

No matter what we've done, they still look up to us and believe in us.

I wish I was that innocent.

Thanks!

I have a very similar story. You can do this. It's so much better to have one of my kids wake me up when the sun comes up and be clear headed and happy rather than hung over and guilty/angry at myself. There's lots of stuff like that waiting for you, too. Hang in there.
