Go to a meeting and ask for help. Please make that your number one priority today.

Yep, get to a meeting. The key is to connect face to face with other alcoholics. If you don't, you will continue to spiral. The bad thing is, we usually don't have much control of what may happen if we continue to drink.

"Burn the idea into the consciousness of every man(woman) that he can get well regardless of anyone. The only condition is that he trust God and clean house."

You do not have to have a sponsor to stay sober and find recovery. The sponsor is nothing but a person delivering a message...they are not the message. If you want to stay sober then quite worry so much about a sponsor and start listening to what is being said and get out the Big Book and read it like your life depends on it because believe me it does.

Absolutely agree with TheWall (great album, great band BTW!)

Don't make not having a sponsor the excuse that you need to continue drinking. It is possible to get sober without having a sponsor. Work through the core principles of the steps in your own mind and really think deeply about your life/drinking/personality traits which make you vulnerable to alcoholism. It can be done, certainly by using this site as a kind of sponsor really helps.

If you truly wish to not have to go through what you're going through at the moment ever again then you will find the way which works for you... If you continue to drink you may never find the way.

Peace and Love x

((Debs)). Sorry you're going through a rough patch. You CAN get through this, and the people on these forums are living proof. Remember how great it feels to wake up sober and clear headed.

That being said, if you want a sponsor, ASK.

Keep us posted.

Well... it's been over a week with this total complete madness....

It truly is insanity...

Everything in my life has shifted for the worse... the WAY worse...

I'm horribly depressed, my family is worried sick, I ALMOST lost a job... (am working on getting that sorted out), my electricity got shut off for a few days..............

All for a week of indulging?

It's insanity.

Please pray for me.. I'm gonna try so hard to pick up the pieces and start again in the morning... I'm gonna go to a meeting... I'm gonna try............ to beat this thing once and for all..

Thanks so much for yall's undying support...

I'm only just terrified of the detox.... I tried to stay sober today but when the horrendous shakes and sweating and misery started in I caved in on some wine.

I just hope I'm stronger tomorrow.

Perhaps calling your doctor today about de toxing
is the best way to work thru this.

I didn't and it was risky to have not.
Please check out this sticky....

I agree with the Funky Greeter Guy above

Don't let fear trap you in a whirlwind of harm. See your doc about safe detox. You CAN do it Debs

If you do manage to stop drinking then make sure that you engrain in your deepest thoughts how utterly hopeless and horrific you feel at the moment. Only then will you stand a chance of staying permanently stopped (providing you 'work' some form of a program of recovery of course).

I remember all too vividly the horrific feelings, that only people who have been there will ever appreciate, when you feel the withdrawal/hangover/comedown/soberness setting in and you just want it all to slide away into a drunken buzz for a few more hours. Hopefully this is your rock bottom .

All the best, peace and Love xx

hey debs you can beat this

i have a life that i can only desribe as total horror

i wont go into the details in case i get smacked for taking your thread off topic (joking smacked)but my point is although it seems hopless right now i am still in the game but if i was drinking i would be out, game ,set and match over,i feel like drinking every day but i am in control no one can make me drink and dozens have tried and no one can stop me drinking but me ,i am lord and master of my sobriety

long live king jimbo ...he rules till i decide other wise

and you can rule your life too all you need is to say no 1 minute at a time

Don't make sponsorship such a huge obstacle... you don't even need to find someone that has a lot of time sober.

Bill & Bob got sober around the same time. Who was sponsoring who? They were each helping eachother at various times.

It might help if you can at least find another alcoholic who is committed to staying sober and would like to see you sober as well. You can work through things together and be supportive.

Maybe later you'll be comfortable with someone who has already been through the steps helping you.

I hope you find a solution for all of this Jim. It may require setting aside some long held beliefs, but it is available if you honestly want it.
