Massage Therapy in alcoholism This is a bit off topic, but massage therapy may help both men and women in alleviating the stressors of addiction. It gives a positive outlook and a different view to one who is afflicted with addiction. Not the negativity and combative nature of our minds. |
Hi Social....:) Never considered as Therapy....but I've often found massages relaxing.... before I became a drinker while I was and after I quit.....:yup: |
It really does help, with a lot of things. I'm a massage therapist and I've learned that massage is great for reconnecting your mind and your body. It's not just relaxation. It also helps your body to flush out toxins. Which can be really beneficial when you're trying to get sober. But be careful with getting deep tissue work done if you've used recently. There are so many toxins getting flushed through your system as is. And getting deep tissue work releases even more and it will overload your system. I've actually had clients who I did know were hungover get up and puke after because of this. I've also gotten nauseous and sick if I get a deep massage while I'm using. |
Hmm...:) Ok I'll give a tip for lovers if you want a happy partner I've found a foot massage very effective. Put a towel on the bed...feet on top warm baby oil in your hand.....wait for the purr. :yup: |
I agree with Cherry & Social. I have completed a massage therpy program, and though I am not currently practicing, I personally found it to be immnesly helpful. Cherry really described it best, it was my experience as well. A good massage is much more than just a "rub down", it can really be a spiritual experience. |
