court date is tomorrow
well it's a month later and my court date (for dui) is tomorrow. i'm so afraid about how it will go and yet anxious to get it over with.
please send a positive thought my way tomorrow if you think of it -- my appt is @9:30am. i know it's my own fault and i am responsible. i really feel bad about the whole thing and it has left a definite impression on me. i have to change things in my life so i don't get to that point again. i'm just praying for the best and hope it isn't to bad so i can get on to the rest of my sober life.
i want to thank everyone on this board who has been there for me -- you guys are the best and i hope that someday i can pay you back with support like you have given me.

well....more court dates
the person i was going to talk to and not get a lawyer was not there and i was advised to get a lawyer (wish i woulda just done that to begin with) i did thank God get one today. if they can't get the breathalyzer number down i will have to go to jail for 6 days period. no getting out of it. there is a chance he can get it thrown out and then go to work on the rest of the whole thing. still if he can't get the number down, then i'm in deep doo and will go to jail. i'm afraid to hope-he said the machine was really old and had helped someone recently because of that. i'm afraid to get my hopes up. but i don't have to wait as long. the next date is sept 15 for pretrial and if that goes ok one more court date. if it doesn't go ok then it's more than 2 more court dates. i don't know what to think.

I am sorry they are dragging it out. That is what they did to me. I tried to go the no lawyer route, but the results would have been pretty bad like yours.
What did you blow, if you don't mind my asking? Mine was really high and I got a lawyer and we went the route of 'I have a chemical dependency' and I immediately started AA, community service, the psychological evalutation, etc. Do everything you can before you go before the judge.
I really had a come to Jesus with the judge and he gave me a break provided I go to at least 2 AA meetings per week for my year probation period. I still had to go and serve 12 hours in jail to make the mandatory 24 hours in jail that is required in GA. He could have given me a lot more though.
It was actually my wake up call and what has lead me to sobriety today. It took a lot of eff ups, but I have 28 days as of today.

Court dates being dragged out can be a real bummer thats for sure. But look at the bright side of it. This does give you even more time now to get more sober time under your belt and work your program even deeper so when you do go back in front of the judge you will be an even stronger person than you are today and hopefully they will take that into consideration at your next court date.

but
ask your lawyer ...."Would it help my case if I attend
AA meetings and get a paper signed to note the effort?"
If the answer is Yes...take a notebook to meetings.
Ask the chair to add the date-group name and sign
You can get in a lot of meetingss before
your new court dates.
And...you just might find a way to stay sober too...

Hopefully that breathalyzer thing works out. It can all be really intimidating especially if you've never been in the court system before. they kept postponing my court date for like a year.
The judge will probably ask "do you feel you have a problem with alcohol"? I answered yes with mine, and that I had sought help, and the judge seemed quite surprised and sort of livened up and gave me some advice.
I think alot of people go in there saying oh i don't have a problem, this was just a one time thing, i'm just a social drinker really, i just shouldn't have been driving". good luck bo.
