Tired and stupid
Tired and stupid
I found this site a couple of years ago and this is my first time back in a LONG time. I really liked this site because of all the members. I live in a small town and there isnt really many recovering alcoholics my age(I know thats a stupid excuse). Well anyway after a couple of weeks in here I ended up getting very close to another member. Man, I really fell for it. We ended up exchanging phone numbers and ended up staying in constant contact for over a year, but never meeting in person. Well anyway, It ends up that she wasnt who she said she was. Really I dont have any idea who the hell she was. Her stories kept changing and getting more absurd...needless to say that I feel like an idiot for getting played. This is the first time I have really mentioned the whole story to anyone. I am just so tired of feeling embarassed. I also havent gone more than a couple of days without drinking since this relationship(if you can call it that).
Unfortunately that kind of deceit happens all the time... online, offline, you name it. There's bad people everywhere. There's also good people around too. I never got sober for good until I stopped blaming everyone but myself for my lack of sobriety. I got myself drunk.. and I got myself sober.

Dude, I definitely remember you from your avatar!
Ahhh, recovery romance. Brings a couple thoughts to mind:
1. This ain't a hotbed of health.
2. The odds are pretty good you'll meet someone, and the goods are odd.
But.....I met my fiancee here, we're both in recovery, we have a relationship that works if we work on it. I didn't come here looking for a date, it just worked out that way. And like smacked said, I can't go around placing blame on someone else for my recovery and general state of mind. That's an inside job, it's up to me to keep it in check.

Hi TD, we all make mistakes... its time to forgive yourself & move on.
Its understandable that you got caught up in a situation when you were lonely & struggling with your addiction. Its time to focus on you for while & get things back on track.
You can do this.
Take Care,
NB

I remember you too TD
Sorry for your experience.
Sadly, it happens - but like Smacked says there's good folk here too
Drinking over someone else is futile man - I've done it myself - wasted years over it.
Time, as NB says, to focus on you and get back on track.

Interesting you should bring this up because im a Moderator on another forum and ive just had to deal with problem members. Be careful.
As has been said, there are morons everywhere, im real wary of people online until I begin to 'know' them and even then im still wary. It pays
