So Close Im so close to drinking right now. Ive got 68 days done sober. Would be a shame to spoil it. But I feel like getting drunk. Its boredom that really gets too me and when I have money. I can nearly feel and taste a cold drink going down my throat. Im just gonna go get some fags I think, and summit too read. Take my mind off it. Shame the bookshop is right next too loads of pubs, which dont make it any easier but I will not be going in there no matter how much it calls me to. Its calling me right now. In the past year and a half Ive spent 9 months sober and the rest drunk but that is just a way of trying too justify getting drunk. |
Cigs are definetly better than booze. I smoke when I'm really anxious. You know it will pass soon. Stay strong. |
Think about where your last drink brought you. non alcoholics get bored too but they dont go and get pissed!! Its immature and will gain nothing except a hangover and remorse It will be worse this time. It gets worse never better!! Whatever is going on for you needs to be overcome without the crutch of alcohol. Those feelings will be there next time too if you dont do things differently. There is a number of things you can do. . Get support. Have a long bubble bath Go for a walk catch up on some stuff you have been putting off make something nice to eat play good music call a friend check out an AA meeting |
I'ts great that you are posting here before the first drink! Remember what happens after that first drink. Try an ice cold vitamin water instead. To me, it is satisfying and healthy. To avoid boredom, I work at doing things I could not do drunk, or repair the things I f***** up while drunk. It is very rewarding. Hang in there -- just for today! |

Hope all is well, Tripp. |
Tripp, I had a day like that today too. Bored with money, at least enough money to get booze. But I made it through, by trying to stay busy, and that's what I'd suggest for you. Hang in there |
I had a weak moment today too.... Know what I did? Got in my car, rolled up ALL my windows, and screamed BLOODY MURDER!!!! :D Amazing how therapeutic that can be! ;) Just think how tomorrow morning will feel if you beat this thing. :) Not sure what time it is there, but if night has already come and gone, I do so hope you won the battle. Either way, you're loved here. Hugs... |
l know that feeling very well. good luck and wisedom. Now don't say you can't swear off drinking; it's easy. I've done it a thousand times. W. C. Fields |
Cravings and drinking/using thoughts are lies trying to glorifying past times. But those times are history. Play the tape all of the way through to today. Why was it you decided to stop drinking? What would drinking now accomplish? |
i hope that you will call people and share with them so that they can help you stay sober. All too often i have watched people come and go just because they thought they were in control of this disease and didn't ask for help. Please call your sponsor and ask how a spiritual defense can help you with the obsession to drink. Get to a meeting soon! |
