Alcohol is gone, still have codiene
Alcohol is gone, still have codiene
As a sufferer of RA, I have darvocet. Sober now for over 3 months, should I try to refrain from taking darvocet? I kinda feel the "urge" sometimes for a codeine "buzz"........Not a good thing, I'm sure. I can't take Naproxin, due to a past history of ulcers with that drug. Is it "easy" for a recovering alcoholic to get hooked on narcotic pain meds?
It's called cross addiction
It stands to reason, as habitual addicts, it's very easy for us to give up one drug and start on another.

Cross addiction, quite simply, is the principle that addicts can and will become addicted to any mind or mood altering substance, even if it wasn't their original drug of choice.

Of course you know we can not give you medical advice.
Please ask your doctor for information
Addictive substances are just that....regardless of your
sobriety or active alcoholism.

Gee... are we in a playful mood or what?
I like to see how addicted I can get to things that actually make me feel really good too.. and are good for me! I love using my addictive personality disorder in productive ways today. It works for me!

kwigers,... not sure what your response is about really, but enjoy.
Waterman, I'd def talk to a doc about your addiction issues and see maybe if there's another way to find relief with something you wouldn't become dependent on or addicted to.
