One day at a time is probably the most abused phrase in all of AA. Are you ready to quit drinking for good and all? That's a more useful mindset for meaningful recovery.
And yes, I know that getting sober does, at times (sometimes all the time), involve just hanging on and not drinking no matter what. Distracting yourself, other activities, calling people, etc. It might be more useful to look at what actions you can take on a daily basis. What are you doing, today, to achieve lasting recovery? Not what are you doing to not drink today, but what are you doing towards being recovered.

Good to know you are making a fresh start
I too returned to drinking after I decided to stop.
I kept trying and finally......God and AA kicked in for me.
Blessings to you and your husband....

One day at a time is what helped free me from the bondage of projection. I am famous for always worrying about tomorrow or the future in general. It took years to finally figure out that i have no control of what happens tomorrow. It's not here yet, therefore today is all i have. Hell, i could drop dead or be hit by car or etc...... The only thing that matters to me is today. Tomorrow will come soon enough. I'll deal with it in due time.
