Keep coming back.
Make a list of the things you are going to do differently in your life.
Keep something in mind please - you didn't drink because of what anyone else did or said - you drank because you made the conscious, willing CHOICE to drink. Realize now that you can call someone... before you make the CHOICE to drink again.

No, sweetie...you drank because you wanted to. No one else can make us drink unless they physically hold us down and pour it down our throat. Get some rest and come back when you are feeling better. Are you seeing a therapist regularly? Can't hurt, might help. (((HUGS)))
Hi Shunned,
Do you have any local support Shunned? Having local support was a tremendous asset in my recovery. I used to drink when I had a bad day, great day or when nothing much was going on. The beauty of recovery for me is that I can have a bad day now and the thought of drinking doesn't even pop up. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm on day 2... I blew it myself and had nearly 2 handles over 3 days. Today I am not feeling so good and may need to go to the hospital. I consumed an awfull amount of alcohol and the body isnt getting rid of it like it could when I was 19.
Dont give up. I had a good year up to Friday.

Slipping up sucks, and we all did it.
What helps me is the idea that when I screw up, I've wasted whatever amount of time and effort went in to quitting. When sober for an extended period, your body begins to heal itself, and you feel like the rest of the world does (i.e., not half-dead). When you slip up and drink, all of that effort was wasted, and you must start over.
Serious drunks (like me) also must detox. Jeez, there are few things in the world as god-awful as detox. It's the last thing you wanna do twice.
Yeah, my post sounds silly, but try looking at sobriety as an effort. Going back to booze is like building a sand castle and then stomping all over it just for the hell of it. Don't waste the effort!

Before I was ready to really quit for good, I used everything I could find (excuses) to keep it going.. one last time, and then another one last time.
Maybe think about what you'll do next time you're in a tough spot.. have a plan!

firstly, let me say that you have a CHOICE and you choose to drink instead of dealing with the problem. However, no need to feel bad, we all fall into such mistake once in a while. What to do? Sit down and think of what you can do about the problem that led you into alcohol. Next time you are gfaced with some problems, try and be positive in your approach. resorting to alcohol does not and will never bring solution.
