Went out last night
I just moved to a new city and met up with an old friend. We are not just "drinking friends", but we have gotten drunk together a lot out at clubs and parties. Anyway, I have about 3 weeks sober, but I decided to go out for a drink with him and his girlfriend anyways. I don't know what I was planning to do: not drink, order an O'doul's, drink? We got to the bar and I ordered a pint of beer, and I just let it sit. We talked and played pool for about an hour, and my friend says to me, "Is that your second beer?" I tell him no, and that I've got three weeks sober, and I'm not sure if I should drink. So he says, I'll drink it. I say ok. And that was it. Still got three weeks, and I'm feeling good.

Wow Soberdude,
I have got almost 7 weeks, except Ive had 4 sips, at home.
There is no way I could:
A. Go to bar without drinking
B. Buy a drink and not drink it
C. Watch someone else drink and not drink
D. Buy a beer in a bar, not drink it but give it to someone else and have them drink it.
At least not today.
That is great you could do that after 3 weeks.
Congrats!7

they get some great shots.........but every now and then someone gets bitten...

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I came home last night and told my significant other that I hadn't drunk anything. And I got to thinking that going out to bars really doesn't make sense anymore, if you're not drinking and aren't looking to pickup women. Why do it?
