things are getting better...i think

well, i thought I would do an update!

I think I finally figured out how much ativan to take to make me feel 'normal' without feeling to out of it. If I take a quarter of a pill twice a day it seems ok!
Yesterday I met with a fellow from addiciton services. He went over the symptoms and how to manage the symptoms of Post Acute withdrawl. He wants to see me again next week and start trying to figure out what has been triggering me, ways to deal with stress that don't involve a drink or a pill! And we watched a video that a priest made who was in recovery about the first step of AA. That made me about emotional.
I had a great chat the other night with a friend in town who is also in recovery, that helped alot!
Friday I go to my doctor. I don't want to be on the ativan, so hopefully she can recommend something that isn't as addictive. Or otherwise I am just back to dealing with life with a pill!!
I would say that the thoughts of drinking are still there.....just not having any physical symptoms, but isn't that just the ativan helping with that?

I used AA and the 12 steps to complete wean myself off of those kind of medications.

No more anxiety, just acceptance of life on life's terms.

I don't have any experience w/Ativan. I just wanted to comment that it looks like you are taking a LOT of positive steps toward recovery! Good for You! :)

Sounds like you have a good plan in place! As to the Ativan, I've never been on it. My Dr. won't give me anything like that. Hopefully you don't or won't have to be on it for long.

Ativan, by medical definitions, helps with alcohol withdrawal....
have not a clue about it helping with craving but hey, if it's
working I say good for you.

oh..expletive. You said "thoughts of alcohol", not craving.
Somewhat different, to me at least.

Thoughts of alcohol...my my my...I guess you eventually
outgrow, learn to deal with life/people/work/hardships/goodships :)
and suddenly you find that you don't have "thoughts of alcohol."
Eh..I'm not too articulate today so will just end this here.

good for you in being so active in your recovery process!
