Day 1

Had 18 months sobriety in AA which I ended 7 years ago believing that I could control my drinking.

I have tried all ways to cut back, cut out and all have failed miserably.

Several 'yets' later I went to an AA meeting tonight, was very nervous at first but I am so glad that I attended. It is the only place for me where I can stay sober.

Good to see you again Tony....
All my best as you move forward

It did take me more than 1 try before
I quit. I feel my recovery became
solid when I started my AA Steps/

Welcome Back!
It took a long time to realize that I couldn't control my drinking. When I finally believed that I could not control my drinking it really helped my resolve to stay sober.
Please let us know how you are doing!

I too tried to control my drinking only to fail. It is much easier for me to stay 100% sober, now that I have finally learned that I have no control over alcohol - even one drink.

Good luck with your new journey to sobriety.

Thanks for the support guys. Getting to another meeting tonight, got to get started on the programme asap.

Have had those little voices again trying to convince me I am not an alcoholic, just one day after a blackout session. Mental.

Rivelino, today is my two weeks, and I too hear those voices ("you weren't THAT bad" etc, etc.)... You're doing well to get back into what you know has worked in the past. I always find good help and hugs here too, so you are in the right place.

2 weeks is good going sunrise. I've just got to work the programme, enjoyed the meeting tonight, there is some really good sobriety in there and this place really helps too.
