Antabuse, wear a bracelet? What do you say?
Hey all,
I've only been on Antabuse for 7 days, I went ahead and bought a bracelet and I've been wearing it. So far no ones asked me anything about it.
Just curious if anyone else wears/wore one... if so what did/do you say when someone asks you about it??

Hey Justsomeguy. Glad to know the antabuse is working for you. It is a good idea to wear that bracelet IMHO. If anything should happen to you it would tell emergency response personel that you can't be administered anything with alcohol in it. I believe you are the only one that notices the bracelet. While it may be a huge statement to you, it means nothing to others around you.
I congratulate you on being proactive in your recovery.

No, I did not wear a bracelet when I was taking Antabuse
I don't think they were making them in 87/88
or I would have.
...I have carried an AA key chain
had the AA symbol on my car bumper
and worn AA shirts in public.
I'm always open to discuss AA to anyone.

The bracelet I wear is a medical bracelet so it's got the medical symbols on it and all. I was advised and it actually says on the bottle I should be wearing one, so I do. But if you see the top half there's no mistaking it's a medical bracelet because the "taking antabuse" is surrounded by medical symbols, so if someone see's it, it may prompt them to ask what it's for. If you search for them you can see a pic of it it's the only one I could find.
I'm just a bit perplexed, I'm thinking I'll probably just say it's for some medication I'm taking, and the Dr said I should wear it.
I also was thinking I could just say it's because I have an allergic reaction and if they asked what I would say to alcohol. LOL.
