Yeah, I had to grin at this too. Vodka to rum is NOT HARD alcohold to LESS HARD alcohol. Now vodka down to wine cooler perhaps. But if your friend has an alcohol problem one of two things would happen. They would drink so many wine coolers they would bust their bladder trying to get the effect of the vodka or find some other way to rationalize getting something stronger (say like it would be cheaper to buy a bottle of wine and a bottle of sprite and make my own - except I barely use any sprite LOL!)

Have I ever switched what I drank to try to taper down? Yeah. Did it work? No. What worked? Abstinence and the program of AA (for me).
