I'm not a fan of the BB, but it contains some good nuggets of information. For whatever reason, physiologically the drinking knocks us down a lot faster than it does men. The way I see it, that's a good thing: I only lost three years of my life instead of ten or twenty, because I hit bottom so fast. |
The CDC ...U.S. Center for Disease Control also noted a difference. Sorry...I can't find the info just now but I do remember they suggest a moderate drinker have no more than 1 drink per day for women....2 for men. Something to do with our different cell structure. Hope another member will have more facts and share...:yup: |
I believe that the progression the BB is referring to is the progression of alcoholism--from social drinkers to warning signs to early alcoholism to basic alcoholism to chronic alcoholism--where this progression takes less time in females than it does in males. I read a study in early recovery (somewhere around 1987) where it said that for males this progression was approximately 7-10 and for females approximately 3-5 years. All I could think of was .... there's womyn for ya; when we wanna get something done, we wanna do it right, and right now!!..... LOL NoelleR |
