My experience going to treatment vs. on my own
This is interesting.
I remember that after I went to treatment for the first time and second time I had many of the standard stuff going on that they told me would happen in early sobriety:
Feeling of numbness, loss of sex drive and drinking dreams. I was also going to A.A. meetings daily and I wonder if there's a correlation.
Now during the times I have quit on my own and don't go to A.A. meetings, I don't have any of those symptoms.
I can't seem to get on a normal sleep schedule to save my life but other than that I don't think I'm really experiencing any major post-acute withdrawal symptoms and I'm alot happier.

I believe that Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) is very real in advanced alcoholics. That being said it's also true that the power of suggestion can be very strong. It's kind of funny how you can read the side effects of a medication and all of a sudden you have most of them. The placebo effect is another good example of this. You can never underestimate the power of the mind.

Hmm...
Here is information on PAWS
TYPES OF PAW SYMPTOMS
1. Inability to think clearly
2. Memory problems
3. Emotional overreactions or numbness
4. Sleep disturbances
5. Physical coordination problems
6. Stress sensitivity

I don't see any connection to the recovery program of AA.
The link is not from an AA source.
Good to know your improving L.D.

I can identify with that, LaDita. The power of suggestion is really strong, especially so for those early in recovery, I think. If you're in a vulnerable state and you're told that X, Y, and Z will go wrong... I think sometimes it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Glad to year you're doing well! The sleep thing will settle out.
